Please join me for a journey into the world of Found Poetry Collage!

So, what is “Found Poetry”, anyway? Think of combining “found” words (clipped from book pages, computer-generated or hand-written) with mixed-media backgrounds and imagery to create depth, dimension and a story that’s totally unique.

In this class, we’ll start with the basics—including where to find books you’re willing to cut apart! You’ll learn my tips for finding collage-friendly words, organizing them and arranging them in various types of poems, from minimalist to a “magnetic poetry” style.

I’ll guide you through three Lab Time exercises, where you’ll get hands-on experience highlighting text, using text as a background in combination with a variety of texturizing techniques, and overwriting onto text paper. I’ll then create two found poetry collages: One minimalist, and one that’s more involved. I’ll talk you through my process as I put the pieces together.

So, do you have to be a poet or a writer to take this class? Definitely not! I hope you’ll join me.
